Our agency provides fingerprinting cards and kits free of charge to any resident which enables them to document and store their child’s fingerprints so that they have them in the event of an emergency. Our officers will also assist with this effort for groups, classes, etc. upon request by email. The Identi-Kits are available at headquarters.
There is a Medicine DropBox available 24 hours, 7 days a week. The box is located in the police department’s front lobby. All disposals are made anonymously. View the Medicine DropBox (DOC) for specific rules and instructions.
Peace of Mind Program has now been merged into the Special Needs Program.
Purpose
The program was created for residents who have the responsibility of taking care of a family member or friend with Alzheimer’s Disease or who are similarly handicapped and might wander from the home and be unable to provide information as to their address or identity. This program allows the person to be registered with our agency, and have their photo and contact information on file at headquarters in the event the Police locate them away from their home, or to assist in locating them should they be separated from their caregivers. View the registration form (PDF).
We offer free gunlocks to provide additional safety for the children of people who have legally-owned firearms in their homes. These can be picked up in our lobby at Police Headquarters anytime. Email for Project ChildSafe.
Our officers will be happy to come and speak to your business, organization, or civic group on a wide variety of topics including:
- Contingency Planning
- Crime Prevention
- Identity Theft
- Internet Safety (for Children and/or Parents)
- Personal Safety and Many Other Topics
In most cases, we can tailor the presentation to your group’s particular needs. Email for Public Speakers/Lecturers.
Resident Emergency Contact Information (PDF) will be kept on file in the department’s in-house computer system to be used in the event we need to contact you in response to an emergency.
This program is for any of our residents who have special needs, including persons with physical disabilities or impairments, or those who require might require special handling during a response by the emergency services personnel.
The Police Chief worked closely with the Tenafly American Disability Act (ADA) Committee to draft a registration form that provides the police department with a wealth of information that would be useful for police, fire, and ambulance personnel in the event they have to respond to assist you.
Form
Once the form is completed and returned to the Police Department, the police computer system will automatically notify dispatch personnel that there is important information available to responding units. The form will be virtually "at their fingertips" to provide the necessary information to the responding units. The registration form is available at Police Headquarters (in the forms rack in the lobby), in the Borough Hall at the Information Center, at the Tenafly Library, the Senior Center, or online (PDF).
